This project is comprised of land-based solar modules, (1) underground tank that holds 1,000 gallons of gasified hydrogen, (4) solar inverters, (4) battery inverters, (24) 6v batteries, a hydrogen generator and a fuel cell. The system was purchased outright by the owner and included a 30% investment tax credit received by the government. The dwelling is a 2,300 square foot home that was averaging a $680 per month electricity bill. With the installation of the solar hydrogen energy system, the property generates approximately $9,000 in solar renewable energy credits (SRECs) per year with a net zero electricity bill.
Strizki Property, Hopewell, NJ
This was the first solar hydrogen energy system installed in North America. Completed in 2006, the installation is comprised of land-based and roof-based solar modules, (10) above ground tanks each holding 1,000 gallons of hydrogen, (6) inverters, (48) 6v batteries, a hydrogen generator and a fuel cell. This 2,800 square foot home can operate completely off the grid but is connected to the grid in order to generate energy credits. The home produces $8,000 in annual SRECs.
